Exhibition ‘Void Luminous’ opens at Rohtas
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: An exhibition of contemporary paintings titled ‘Void Luminous’ by Noorjehan Bilgrami started at Rohtas Art Gallery (RAG) on Friday.
Bilgrami has enlisted the luminous style of architectural rendering with subtle modulations of finely ruled washes of indigo and ochre as light breaks through the suggestions of architectural substance. Only at the edges of the immaculately controlled fields does the eye confirm that we have been lured close to a tactile residue of water and pigment.
According to Aasim Akhtar, an art critic, photographer and a researcher, sense of momentous, disjunctive things happening makes Bilgrami’s work the most impacted and beautiful of the series. Smaller pieces on paper, especially, with its lone, geomorphic figures suspended mid universe – prove that Bilgrami was an able visionary.
He said, “The artist’s sky paintings have become increasingly ethereal; they are now more about the soul and less about the physical. The exhibition will continue at Rohtas Art Gallery (RAG) till November 16.
